A pedestrian was taken to the hospital with serious injuries
Buses were being diverted and bars appeared to be closed in the area of Friar Lane on Sunday evening (March 22) after a serious traffic collision in Nottingham city centre.
Nottinghamshire Police have put out an appeal for witnesses for what they say was a collision between a car and a pedestrian on Friar Lane at around 4.55pm.
It is understood that the driver of the car has been arrested, and the pedestrian has been taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
Friar Lane was closed for several hours between its junctions with Maid Marian Way and Beastmarket Hill, while the incident scene is investigated.
Nottingham City Transport has posted on social media that “due to an incident South Notts 1, .Navy 48 and Pathfinder 90 are unable to serve Beastmarket Hill.” The bus company confirmed that buses had returned to their normal route by around 5.20am this morning (Monday, March 23).

Normally, Friar Lane, with its eclectic mix of bars and restaurants, would be very busy on a Sunday evening.
With the cordon in place, the businesses have been forced to close early.
Jordan and the Cav team from Ned’s Cavern posted on social media to its customers and said: “Unfortunately due to an ongoing incident on Friar Lane, which has been closed by local police, we are forced to close this evening.
“We apologise for any inconvenience, and hope to see you tomorrow.”
As police continue their investigation work, people and traffic are finding alternative ways around the extensive cordon.
Police are urging witnesses to come forward.

While the police carry out their investigations, Friar Lane is closed between its junctions with Maid Marian Way and Beastmarket Hill.
Buses are unable to access Beastmarket Hill via Friar Lane.
