Notcutts Wheatcroft Garden Centre in Edwalton emerged as the top performer among 19 competing garden centres at an awards ceremony. The venue located on Landmere Lane secured the title for best restaurant. Street Kitchen offers morning meals, lunches, light bites and afternoon tea. The dining space underwent transformation in 2015, converting a decent but unremarkable café into the contemporary Street Kitchen establishment. That same year, the restaurant claimed the award for best design in a retail category at the Restaurant and Bar Design Awards held in London. In a separate category, employee Gaynor Tilford-Baker received the Passion, Inspiration and Expertise Award in recognition of her outstanding warmth and excellent relationships with customers and their animal companions. Two additional staff members were honoured for their lengthy tenure. Rachel Ruff marks four decades of service while Debra Arnold has been with the garden centre for 25 years. The Frontline Hero Award went to Sean O’Grady, selected by his coworkers for his consistent willingness to go above and beyond expectations. The honours were handed out during Notcutts annual conference and awards gathering, which gathered over 100 workers from 19 garden centres along with 18 industry sponsors at Chesford Grange in Warwickshire. Sixteen award categories were presented by Caroline Notcutt, vice chairman, and Andrew Notcutt, family shareholder, both great-grandchildren of company founder Roger Crompton Notcutt. Jon Wilson, general manager at Notcutts Wheatcroft, stated the team is honoured to be recognized as the standout winner across the Notcutts organization this year, describing it as a wonderful testament to the dedication and enthusiasm the entire staff demonstrates daily in providing quality experiences for the Nottinghamshire community. Nick Burrows, Notcutts CEO, said the yearly awards represent an uplifting and inspiring evening for everyone involved, and he takes great pride in acknowledging the exceptional customer service, passion and innovation displayed by teams across the garden centres, restaurants and support office.
