Palace reject Glasner’s ideal Forest move

Oliver Glasner will not be linking up with Daichi Kamada at Nottingham Forest.

The Austrian coach holds the 29-year-old Japan international in high regard, having previously overseen him during spells at Eintracht Frankfurt and then Crystal Palace.

Kamada had been identified as a perfect acquisition for Glasner at the City Ground, in the wake of Elliot Anderson’s move to Manchester City.

Kamada found himself without a club after his contract at Selhurst Park concluded this summer, though the Eagles have now announced he has committed to a fresh 12-month agreement at the same venue.

Palace chairman Steve Parish expressed his pleasure at the outcome, noting that over the past couple of seasons Daichi has established himself as a key figure in central midfield while also winning over supporters both on and off the field. He added that he was thrilled the player had chosen to reject several other suitors to remain in South London. Parish mentioned that Daichi would now take a deserved break following his impressive World Cup showing before linking up with the squad later in pre-season as the club prepares for a demanding Premier League and European campaign.

Kamada expressed his gratitude for everything and vowed to give his all as the team pursues another trophy.
