Officers are appealing for help identifying a man seen on a Nottingham bus where a sexual assault occurred.
The victim, a teenager, had boarded the number 44 NCT service travelling from Nottingham city centre towards Gedling when she was subjected to unwanted physical contact from a fellow passenger.
The assault took place over a half-hour window on the morning of June 9, between 7.17am and 7.47am.
Following the incident, the victim reported to police that she had been touched inappropriately during the journey.
Nottinghamshire Police released a photograph on Friday, July 10, as part of their public appeal, showing a male passenger wearing a striking red hat who was observed boarding and alighting from the service at roughly the time of the offence.
Investigating officers say the individual may possess details relevant to their enquiries.
Sergeant Liz Johnson urged the man or anyone able to identify him to make contact with authorities.
She described the experience as deeply distressing for the young victim, who was left badly shaken. Johnson said the force considers the photographed man likely to hold information that could prove useful to their investigation, and appealed for him to come forward or for anyone recognising him to get in touch.
Those with any information can contact police using reference number 101, quoting incident 143 of June 9, 2026, or reach Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 for anonymous reporting.
