Preparations for Nottingham’s last-ever Splendour Festival are in full swing, with Wollaton Park preparing to welcome thousands of visitors this weekend (July 18 and 19).

Artists such as Snow Patrol, Primal Scream and Craig David are set to perform across the weekend, sharing the stage with up-and-coming local artists such as Saffron Gray.

It was announced at the end of June that this year’s festival would be the final Splendour, after 18 years in the city.

DHP Family, which has run the festival alongside the city council since 2008, said the “poor” support from authorities had been a factor in the decision to axe the event after nearly two decades.

The city has now been invited to come together for “one last hurrah”, with organisers saying the loss of Splendour would leave a “gap” in the community.

For one last time, stages are now being installed at Wollaton Park, singers are warming up and practising their choreographies and visitors will soon line up at the entrance gates.

Ahead of the festival, prices for refreshments at Splendour, which is set to take place in temperatures of up to 23C, have been revealed.

Pints of beer will set visitors back £7.50, whilst cider and cocktail cans have been priced at £6.50 and cask ales are on sale for £7.
