Officials have elevated their heat warning for Nottinghamshire and the Midlands, with temperatures expected to climb back to 30C shortly.
Nottinghamshire will come under an amber heat health alert at 9am on Monday, launching a two-day spell of intense heat that looks set to put pressure on health and social care services.
The warning carries a risk score of 12, indicating a medium level of impact and a probability ranging from 60 to 89 per cent.
The maximum score stands at 16, which would represent a high impact with a probability exceeding 90 per cent.
Regarding the anticipated consequences in the days ahead, the UK Health and Security Agency has indicated that increased deaths are probable, especially among individuals aged 65 and older or those with underlying health issues.

Monday, August 3: Clear and sunny conditions are expected to persist from the early morning hours of Monday right through until dusk, with a small possibility of rain during the Monday afternoon period. Temperatures look set to peak at 30C, before falling to 16C in the evening.
Tuesday, August 4: A somewhat cooler day, though temperatures are still anticipated to reach 27C during the afternoon, when rain is also possible.
Wednesday, August 5: The heat health alert concludes at 9am on Wednesday, to be succeeded by further sunny weather throughout the day, with temperatures forecast to peak at 24C. There is a slight possibility of rain between 12pm and 1pm.
