A serial housebreaker uncovered stashed inside a storage unit by officers has been sentenced to prison.
Calvin Henry, aged 60, became the subject of a police hunt following numerous criminal incidents when he was observed acting unusually at residential apartments in Carrington, Nottingham at approximately midnight on February 4 this year.
Following an inspection of the premises, officers discovered him concealed within a cupboard in an exterior area and took him into custody.
Henry, who has amassed numerous previous theft convictions, was sought in February for:
Trespassing into a dining establishment and billiard room situated on Nottingham Road in Basford and taking cash on November 21, 2025.
Taking collection tins, encompassing one designated for burial costs, from a public house in Bulwell on December 24.
Taking electronic goods from a residence on Gregory Boulevard during the night of December 30, 2025.
Henry, who previously committed a theft from a funeral director after feigning arrangements for his own burial, had prior convictions for taking a collection tin.
On January 31, he additionally took a female victim’s handbag before misusing her payment card.
The victim, in her sixties, was left without her mobile device, purse, spectacles and even her rail pass home.
Henry, who has no permanent residence, contested all accusations despite video evidence connecting him to the offences.
His pleas failed to convince a jury, who deemed him guilty of two counts of housebreaking, two counts of theft and one count of deception on July 30 at Nottingham Crown Court, resulting in a three-year and 36-week custodial sentence.
He was acquitted of a single charge of possessing items for use in theft.
Detective Constable Natalia Montano, representing Nottinghamshire Police, stated that Henry is a repeat offender who has already served multiple periods of incarceration. She noted that his readiness to steal from charitable organisations and worthy causes demonstrates much about his character, as did his unwillingness to confront those he wronged or account for himself in court. She expressed satisfaction that he has now been returned to custody for what she trusts will be his final occasion.
