Gale-force conditions caused a grass fire to intensify rapidly in the Nottinghamshire area.

Fire crews from across the region rushed to contain a blaze on Carter Lane in Church Warsop on the afternoon of Monday 3 August.

The first emergency call came in at 2.45pm as the fire, driven by gusty conditions, expanded across the four-hectare site.

Both Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Services worked together to bring the situation under control. Units dispatched included crews from Warsop, Edwinstowe, Worksop, Mansfield, Retford, and Ashfield, along with a water carrier from Worksop. Derbyshire contributed four engines and an additional water carrier.

A combined police and fire aerial observation unit from Nottingham was also deployed to assist ground teams.

Operation concluded at 9.30pm, though crews remained on site through the night to monitor for any reignited areas. No casualties were reported.
