Nottinghamshire County Council, governed by Reform UK, has launched a major road improvement initiative throughout 2024, with comprehensive resurfacing work planned for 60 different routes across the county.
Among those receiving full treatment is Victoria Road in Kirkby. Throughout August, five streets across Mansfield and Ashfield will undergo complete resurfacing, while a further four routes in these areas will benefit from targeted machine-applied patching.
An extensive county-wide surface dressing programme is simultaneously underway, with over 70 locations scheduled for treatment during the summer season.
Councillor Bert Bingham, responsible for transport and environmental matters at Nottinghamshire County Council, commented that work to enhance roads across Mansfield and Ashfield was progressing well, with nine substantial projects lined up for August alongside various other repairs and preventive maintenance. The summer surface dressing programme was progressing as planned, with micro surfacing due to commence this month and more than 150 roads expected to receive treatment between now and the autumn period. This year’s record-breaking highways spending had allowed more roads to be addressed than ever before, creating improved and safer travel conditions for residents, businesses and visitors. While some temporary inconvenience was inevitable, these upgrades would provide long-term advantages and support continued mobility throughout Nottinghamshire. He expressed gratitude to local people for their patience and cooperation during the works.
