A large-scale illuminated aerial performance titled Drone Show: Nottingham City of Legends has been confirmed for Nottingham this November.

The production will unfold at the Forest Recreation Ground on Thursday 5 November 2026, lasting approximately 20 minutes and featuring 250 coordinated drones programmed to depict the city’s historical narrative, mythical figures and celebrated folklore against the night sky.

A specially composed musical score will accompany the visual display, creating what organisers describe as an unforgettable experience suitable for all age groups.

The performance has been developed in collaboration with Light Dynamix, a Nottinghamshire company specialising in professional drone systems for entertainment productions.

The manufacturer supplies equipment to operators and production companies delivering major shows internationally.

As a locally-rooted business, the involvement of Light Dynamix brings regional expertise to the project.

The city council secured the commission as part of its annual calendar of complimentary and affordable public events.

Financing for the initiative forms part of a previously announced ÂŁ25 million supplementary investment programme directed towards improving essential services, assisting families and enhancing civic pride across Nottingham.

Practical visitor information has also been released.

Two separate performances will operate throughout the evening.

The earlier performance opens gates at 5pm with the display commencing at 6.30pm, while the later option welcomes attendees from 7.30pm ahead of a 9pm start.

Approximately 13,000 places are available across both shows, with 6,500 positions allocated to each session.

Standard entry costs ÂŁ10 for adults aged 17 and above, with children under 17 admitted for ÂŁ5.

Residents of Nottingham benefit from substantially reduced pricing, paying ÂŁ2 for adult tickets and ÂŁ1 for child tickets.

Proof of residency through council tax details and postcode verification is required to access these concessions.

All ticket prices include value-added tax and booking charges.

The requirement to establish a safety perimeter around the flying zone, mandated by aviation regulations for drone displays, necessitates ticketed entry.

Those without tickets will be unable to view the performance from outside the designated event boundary.

Ticket sales commence on Friday 16 October 2026 at 10am through the official booking platform whatsonnottingham.com.

Transportation arrangements require advance consideration.

No public parking facilities exist at the venue itself.

The nearby Forest Park and Ride facility serves tram passengers exclusively, with vehicles belonging to non-tram users subject to wheel clamping.

Street parking in surrounding residential areas carries parking restrictions and enforcement measures.

Visitors are encouraged to utilise public transport options including the NET tram network, NCT bus services and trentbarton routes.

Limited Blue Badge parking spaces are accessible via Mansfield Road on a first-come-first-served basis at a cost of ÂŁ10 per vehicle, with both cash and contactless payment methods accepted.
