Jota Silva appears destined to depart Nottingham Forest following his temporary stint at Besiktas, with the attacker moving ever closer to a transfer to Olympiacos.

The Portuguese wide player spent last term on loan at the Turkish club after a last-minute switch to Sporting CP fell through because of a paperwork mistake. During his time in Turkey, the forward found the net five times and provided one assist across 22 appearances.

At 26 years old, he is now travelling to the Netherlands to join Olympiacos’s pre-season preparations. The Greek club is also under the ownership of Evangelos Marinakis. Reports had indicated the deal was nearing completion, and it seems the remaining details are now being finalised.

According to Portuguese journalist Sebastiao Sousa-Pinto, the player was making his way to Amsterdam, where Olympiacos were conducting their pre-season camp, to complete medical examinations ahead of the switch.

It is believed Silva gave his approval to the transfer after stating his wish to work under head coach Jose Luis Mendilibar. However, the exact nature of the agreement, whether permanent or temporary, remains to be confirmed.

Once the transfer goes through, he will become the second Forest player to move to the Greek outfit, joining defender David Carmo.

Last month, the former Vitoria Guimaraes man discussed his prospects and hinted that Vitor Pereira’s presence on the bench might have created an opportunity for him to return to Premier League action. Pereira has since departed and been succeeded by Oliver Glasner.

When questioned about making an impression on Pereira during pre-season, he expressed hope that would be possible. He described how Pereira achieved remarkable results by securing Nottingham Forest’s top-flight status with matches to spare, having taken over a team in challenging circumstances. According to his teammates, the manager had united the squad, with everyone appreciating his methods and enjoying the attacking style of football on display, which was delivering positive outcomes alongside the performances.
