A establishment in Chilwell is set to undergo significant improvements after going more than ten years without any updates. The Cadland, located on High Road, will welcome its final patrons on Monday, May 4 prior to construction crews beginning their two-week project. The venue, operated under Ember Inns, received its previous makeover in 2014. The contemporary layout featuring distinct sections for those dining and those simply drinking will undergo complete internal redecoration, with replacements for furniture, flooring, and restroom facilities. Additional enhancements encompass an expanded dining section offering morning meals, sandwiches, traditionalpub fare, grilled items, and kebabs, alongside a revised arrangement for the bar counter. Community members have expressed approval of the plans, with one noting: “Been a long time coming. Looking forward to seeing the results.” Another commented: “I’m really looking forward to it reopening and seeing all the changes.” A few individuals have also requested attention to the building’s exterior. The establishment plans to resume operations on Thursday, May 21, coinciding with the Spring Bank Holiday arriving on Monday, May 25. The venue, originally established as the Bull’s Head during the 1700s, adopted the name The Cadland in 1828 to commemorate that year’s Derby-winning racehorse, owned by the Duke of Rutland.
