A long-awaited high street gym has now opened up inside the former Poundland store in Arnold.
Fitness giant Puregym opened its Front Street branch on Tuesday, April 14, after the value retailer Poundland closed its unit in the town centre in December.
The venue will be open 24/7 and feature the latest in fitness equipment, including free weights, a HYROX training section, fixed-resistance machines, and cardio equipment.
Sandwiched between B&M and the clothing store Peacocks, it will be Gedling’s seventh gym, with the other nearest being Arnold Leisure Centre.
Membership options start from £16.99 for six months, and £24.99 after the first six months, with a £15 joining fee.
Oli Lyndsell, the gym’s manager, said: “It’s been really exciting opening, we’ve had a lot of people coming down, we are really excited to get started.
“We are super impressed with how the space has been utilised by our installation team. In terms of our gym offering, we have everything that you could really wish for and beyond in terms of training goals.
“I don’t think anyone could find a better place for their fitness goals.
“We are open 24/7 from opening, and people are more than welcome to come and tour the gym before they join.”
Poundland has been restructuring its operations since the summer and is expected to reduce its store network from around 800 to 650-700.
The budget retailer said that Arnold was not on the list of stores it had initially identified for closure, but it was unable to make a deal to keep the unit.
