The Reform-run county council has warned roads could still ‘decline’ without more government funding

More than 60 Nottinghamshire roads will get a full resurfacing over the coming year as the Reform UK-run county council says getting the county’s highways in good condition is its ‘number one aim’.
Yet the authority says the condition of Nottinghamshire’s roads will continue to ‘decline’ without further government funding.
Lobbying continues on that front, with nearly all Nottinghamshire MPs recently meeting with the county council’s leader on a cross-party basis to agree for a renewed push on more government funding.
Councillor Bert Bingham, who leads on transport and environment at Nottinghamshire County Council, says an initial record-breaking investment of £122 million in highways for the coming year should be welcomed though.
The £122 million includes £51 million of capital programmes on a range of preventative and restorative roadworks – the most significant of which are full road resurfacing projects.
It has recently been confirmed that more than 60 Nottinghamshire roads will be getting this treatment over the coming financial year, running until April 2027 – up from the 50 Nottinghamshire roads that got a resurfacing under the last Conservative administration.
Councillor Mick Barton, Nottinghamshire County Council’s leader, said: “This is great news for residents, and we are really looking to prioritise preventative maintenance to stop potholes forming in the first place.
“Many roads will be resurfaced, and we will be carrying out permanent first-time repairs to improve the quality of work to make sure we don’t have to return to the site and do the job twice.
“Ten additional crews will be doing permanent repairs, while we’ll also be using two new JCB Pothole Pro machines to help us to get on top of the problem.
“The days of quick fixes will be coming to an end because we will be repairing roads with stronger methods and materials wherever we can.”
The Reform leadership have pledged more good news on the roads will be announced in the summer, but below is an initial full list of all the Nottinghamshire roads getting a resurfacing over the coming year.
