A major employer in Nottingham, the financial services firm operates from its offices on Station Street in the city centre.

Capital One’s European operations, based in Nottingham, saw its post-tax earnings climb to £94 million last year, compared with £64.7 million the previous year.

The credit card provider maintains more than 1,600 British employees at its Trent House location on Station Street in central Nottingham.

Recent filings with Companies House revealed the British division of the American financial corporation generated £815 million in income during the past year, rising from £732 million in 2024.

The directors of Capital One (Europe) plc stated in their annual report that increased lending activity throughout the year had boosted revenue by 11 percent and expanded net loans to customers by 10 percent.

Leadership at Capital One attributed the expansion of its Nottingham-based business to greater financial support needed from its American parent, with amounts payable to group companies rising by 14 percent during 2025.

Operational and administrative expenditure rose by eight percent during the year, driven by elevated staffing and marketing expenditure.

These operational costs reached £426 million last year, up from £395 million in 2024. The corporation also remitted more than £35 million in taxation last year, compared with £20 million the prior year.

Capital One’s yearly results indicated the mean workforce size for the year stood at 1,670, marginally higher than the 1,663 recorded previously.

All of these positions were classified within management and administration, according to the records.

A declaration in the company’s financial documentation stated that directors had examined the financial standing at year-end and determined it to be acceptable.

Directors anticipate that the overall level of business activity will remain steady and unchanged.

The American corporation established its European headquarters on Station Street in Nottingham in 1998.

The Trent House-based subsidiary ranks among Nottinghamshire’s largest businesses and represents one of Nottingham’s most substantial private sector employers.
