A beloved BBC football series filmed in Nottingham has arrived on Netflix with its first three seasons in time for England’s next World Cup match

A cherished BBC programme following a talented teenage footballer, brimming with celebrity appearances, has recently landed on Netflix. The streaming platform is now featuring the initial three series of Jamie Johnson, an acclaimed children’s drama that originally aired on CBBC.
With Louis Dunn in the title role, the show chronicles the journey of gifted young footballer Jamie, who must settle into a new school following his father’s departure and the subsequent move with his mother to live with his grandfather. The opening three series were shot across Nottingham, while subsequent episodes were produced in Wales, incorporating locations such as Port Talbot and Porthcawl.
Viewers should watch out for famous footballing venues too, including Manchester City’s Etihad Campus and St George’s Park.

Additional prominent names include Scarborough Athletic legend Theo Chapman portraying Jamie’s mate Harry, Coronation Street actress Emma Stansfield as Jamie’s mum Karen and Tim Dantay as Jamie’s grandfather Mike. Finally, the series boasts an early appearance from Doctor Who companion and Coronation Street star Millie Gibson, alongside Lucy Speed (EastEnders) as Ms Savage and fellow Corrie legend Brian Bovell portraying Jamie’s demanding coach and Harry’s grandfather, Mr Hansard.
