A Nottingham branch of Birds Bakery is set to be revamped into the chain’s premier store in the city. The venue, originally launched at the junction of Lister Gate and Castle Gate back in 2019, will shut its doors at 2pm on Saturday, April 18. The refurbishment forms part of a wider company strategy to roll out refreshed branding, departing from the century-old burgundy colour scheme in favour of a new spring green design. Branches in Arnold and Radcliffe-on-Trent have already undergone comparable transformations. A spokesperson for the Derby-headquartered bakery confirmed that considerable funding would be directed toward completely overhauling the interior, expressing enthusiasm about reintroducing the site as their flagship Nottingham establishment. The existing configuration includes seating near the windows facing Lister Gate, and patrons will be able to view the updated appearance when the shop reopens on Thursday, April 30. In the meantime, Nottingham city centre shoppers can access the Victoria Centre branch for sausage rolls, cream cakes, caramel doughnuts and bread cobs. The company runs more than 60 shops across the region and maintains coverage in almost every town across Greater Nottingham, with the exception of Stapleford, where a branch on Derby Road concluded trading on March 14 following numerous years of trading. That Stapleford premises is presently advertised for lease at an annual rental of £12,000.
