A fencing manufacturer based in Nottingham has gone into administration and made all its staff redundant following a period of mounting costs. Beechdale Fencing Limited, based at Cattle Market Road in The Meadows, was placed into administration on April 8. Founded in 2008, the business manufactured fencing and related garden products but ceased operations on April 2. Insolvency specialists Michael Roome and Jamie Playford from the firm Leading were named as joint administrators, with the result that 14 workers lost their employment. Mr Roome, who together with his colleague will now sell off company assets and finalise the shutdown, said rising costs had contributed to the collapse. He explained that the company was set up in 2008 and ran successfully for numerous years, but growing operational expenditures, especially those related to buildings, supplies, and staff, had impacted the business. He added that the expense of raw materials, including wood and concrete, had fluctuated within the construction and landscaping sectors, creating persistent challenges for profitability. Building material costs including timber and concrete have increased considerably since the coronavirus pandemic began in 2020. The fencing supplier was additionally impacted by the director’s serious medical issue in late 2025, which reduced his working schedule and damaged the company’s performance, Mr Roome stated. While Beechdale Fencing had 14 staff members before administration, its financial records showed an average of 28 people were associated with the business throughout 2024. The same financial documentation, covering the year ending August 31, 2024, indicated that the amount owed to creditors had grown during that period. The company’s website, still live, showed it sold a range of fencing goods, including sturdy fence panels, concrete posts, and gravel boards. Bespoke fence panels and custom gates were the firm’s specialist offerings, according to the site. It also noted that the now-insolvent company had kept prices competitive and offered delivery to buyers. Beechdale Fencing Limited mainly served Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, the website showed. The company had a good reputation with customers, with reviewers praising its quality of products and installations.
