Nottingham Forest are in the hunt to sign Rayo Vallecano’s Nobel Mendy when the transfer window opens this summer.

Mendy joined the La Liga side from Real Betis on loan which included an obligation to buy last summer.

Vallecano are now tipped to buy him for €2.4m which, according to new reports, is because Forest, Benfica and Atalanta are readying significant offers for the centre-back.

Benfica have tracked the centre-back consistently but have yet to make their move due to the uncertainty surrounding Nicolás Otamendi and António Silva.

And according to Saturday’s edition of O Jogo, as reported by Sport Witness, Forest have already made their move for Mendy.

It said their offer is €10m plus €5m bonuses, surpassing the Spanish club’s €12m demand.

Benfica are aware they need an offer that eclipses that if they are to convince Rayo Vallecano to sell.
