Courier dragged along road trying to stop Nottinghamshire van theft

Published on

Detectives have begun inquiries after a courier was pulled across the ground while trying to prevent his vehicle from being stolen in Bulwell.

The courier was making a delivery on Cantrell Road on Saturday, April 18 when he noticed an individual getting into his vehicle. As the individual departed with the van, the courier sprinted back and gripped onto the automobile, at which point the driver accelerated and veered across the carriageway. The courier was then hauled behind the van for several moments before tumbling onto the road, sustaining knee injuries in the process. The automobile was subsequently located abandoned in Bestwood, though the owner’s mobile phone remained missing.

Officers probing the occurrence, which occurred at approximately 12.18pm, have now published a photograph of a man they wish to speak with as part of their investigation.

PC Adam Spencer, from Nottinghamshire Police, stated that this was an extremely perilous occurrence that thankfully did not result in the van’s owner sustaining serious harm. The victim was hauled behind the van for several seconds after someone stole their delivery van and departed at speed. While they were able to retrieve the stolen vehicle swiftly, they continue working to locate the individual responsible for the theft. On this point, they can now release a photograph of a man they wish to speak with as part of their investigation. Their belief is that he may possess information that could help their inquiries, so they would ask him to please make contact with them. Similarly, they would encourage anyone who identifies him to report this information to the police as soon as possible.
