A hearing date has been set for two people charged in connection with the death of a woman found at a Nottinghamshire caravan park. Donatas Noreika and Arturas Karvelis both face counts of conspiracy to prevent a lawful and respectful burial concerning Orinta Narbtaite, whose remains were located at around 3:12am on Friday, March 20, in Main Street, Milton. With a Lithuanian interpreter present, neither defendant entered a plea when they appeared at Nottingham Crown Court on Monday, April 20, having been held in custody. Several family members of the deceased were present at the hearing where Judge Steven Coupland arranged a provisional start date of September 7 for a trial expected to last three weeks. The judge stated that all parties involved were working to establish appropriate charges and determine what evidence might be admissible. The case was adjourned until May 22, 2026, at 10am, when both defendants would be brought before the court and required to enter pleas. Lead prosecutor Gareth Weetman KC explained during the brief session that the case involved a complex and evolving investigation into a serious matter, with enquiries still ongoing. Ms Narbutaite, a native of Rotherham, was found dead in Main Street, Milton, at 3:12am on Friday, March 20. Her relatives later released a tribute for the 32-year-old, describing her as a devoted and loving mother. The statement expressed grief over the passing of Orinta Narbutaite, calling her a beloved member of the community whose compassion, grace, and warmth left an indelible mark on everyone who knew her. Orinta was to be remembered for her kind spirit and quiet resilience, as well as the sincere care and respect she demonstrated towards others. She had a special gift for offering solace and assistance, bringing peace to those around her. Most significantly, Orinta was a devoted and loving mother to her daughter, whom she cherished deeply. Her parental devotion, wisdom, and dedication would always form part of her lasting legacy. Orinta Narbutaite would be deeply missed and eternally remembered, her memory living on in the hearts of all who were privileged to know her. A murder investigation was launched after Ms Narbutaite’s body was discovered last month. Officers established an exclusion zone around premises at Longbow Residential Park as part of their work. Noreika, who is 37 and lives in Main Street, Milton, and Karvelis, who is 45 and resides in Broad Street, Parkgate, Rotherham – also known in the local area as Arturas Bockus – were both remanded in custody pending the May 22 date. A 64-year-old man and a 60-year-old woman who were also held have been released without any charges being brought. Nottinghamshire Police had initially referred the case to the Independent Office for Police Conduct due to their previous involvement with Ms Narbutaite. In a statement issued shortly after the body was discovered, Detective Inspector Matt Scott stated that thoughts remained with Orinta’s family and loved ones, who had asked for privacy during this extremely difficult time.
