A man was taken to hospital with a stab wound following reports of a ‘violent clash between two groups’ on a residential street.

Police officers were called to reports of the incident in Hardwick Lane, Sutton-in-Ashfield, on Sunday night (March 22).

Members of both groups had fled from the scene by the time officers arrived at around 7.10pm, however one man was located nearby.

He was found with an injury on his back, which police say appears to be a single stab wound.

He was taken to hospital to be treated for injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening or life-altering.

Another man, aged 22, was located by officers nearby and arrested on suspicion of affray.

Officers are continuing to identify the other people involved in the fight and have asked anyone who witnessed the incident to get in touch.

Detective Sergeant Nathan Bingham said: “We’re still in the process of trying to establish exactly what happened during this incident.

“What we do know is that two groups of people were involved in a fight and that a man sustained an injury consistent with a stab wound at some point during this.

“While his injuries are thankfully not believed to be life-threatening or life-altering, this was still quite clearly a very serious offence.

“As such, we’re keen to track down anyone who could’ve been responsible, so would ask anyone who saw what happened to share this with us.

“We also want to hear from anyone who may have heard any information relating to this incident or may have recorded footage of it taking place.”

Information can be shared directly with the police by calling 101, quoting incident 586 of March 22, 2026, while Crimestoppers can also be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.

As of Monday morning (March 23) at around 2.15pm, a small cordon in place on the corner of Leamington Drive and Hardwick Lane was taken down.
